FEASIBILITY STUDY

When removed from their original context, Byantikvaren argues that the next frame for the reliefs should communicate their provenance. It should be visible that the reliefs are fragments of a previous whole:

"The final placement of the artworks in the new government headquarter is not included in the general permission, however The City Preservation Commission challenges Statsbygg and Nordic Office of Architecture AS to give the artworks a permanent placement and exposure which conveys the artworks loss of original context.»[1]

KORO, the national institution for curating, producing and activating art in public space has been involved in the curation of Fiskerne and Måken– consulting in the placement and reframing of the works into the next iteration of the Government Quarter. KORO holds a position in the design of the details of the frameworks between the A-block and the reliefs. Additionally, on the neighboring wall to Fiskerne, they suggest announcing a competition for a work which can enter a dialog with Fiskerne. One can speculate however, if the artwork supplementing Fiskerne already exists.

Investigation C is a response to KOROs commission for a work which is to compliment Fiskerne when relocated to the A-block. By relocating parts of the Picasso Boxes’ structure into Einar Gerhardsens Plass, the intervention seeks to spark a dialogue between the Relief and their previous support structure.
